Sophie Constable –Swan PA Solutions,Warrington
Our latest Woman of the Month is Sophie Constable who took voluntary redundancy from Lloyds Banking Group in June this year and went on to set up her own business, Swan PA Solutions; a Virtual Assistant service.
Sophie felt that after more than 10 years in supportive roles, 6 of which were spent working directly for the Executive Leadership team within LBG that she had the required experience and skills to help other businesses and individuals become even more successful. Sophie has always gone above and beyond in every job/task she has been involved with and is highly regarded by her previous managers and colleagues. She gets real pleasure from helping people so when a friend told her about Virtual Assistants; she knew straight away it was the perfect step forward for her.
For those of you who have not heard of a Virtual Assistant (VA) before, they are basically a PA who works from their own office and provides support to a variety of businesses and individuals charging by the hour. Due to the current economic climate and the ever increasing redundancy rate, businesses are running on lower staff numbers which is adding increasing pressure to the remaining employees. A VA provides the support required at the same time as saving the client money because they do not have to pay for any office space/equipment, Tax or NI, training, sick/holiday pay and any periods of inactivity – i.e. lunchtimes or slow business periods. The client pays for the support by the hour and can request as much or as little as they like depending on their needs at any particular time.
Professionals, Sales Directors, FD's and MD's are too busy to be worrying about the smaller tasks so it makes perfect sense for them to outsource this requirement so they can get on with the role they excel at.
Swan PA Solutions offers a wide variety of support including:
v Call, Diary and Email Management
v Event Management
v Spreadsheet/Database Creation and Management
v General Administration
v Reports and Research
v Expenses/Accounts
v Web Design and Hosting
v Marketing and Promotional Ideas, Advice and Completion
The main goal for Swan PA is to make the businesses and individuals they work for even more successful. They do this by getting to know their clients’ businesses and tailoring the support to match their requirements.
To help in setting up the business, Sophie attended a variety of courses, including the Make or Break session at the Warrington Business Venture. Sophie says: ‘the support and guidance provided by the Warrington Business Venture has been invaluable. Following the Make or Break course, I was provided with a business mentor, who used her previous experiences to provide practical and suitable advice for how to get my business started. She continues to provide great advice and support on how to grow my business.”
